Dubai Sports Council Approval

What is the Role of DSC Approval?

The DSC's primary goals are to safeguard players' rights, grow Dubai's sports industry, and control interactions between various sports organizations. Providing opportunities for everyone in society to engage in sports is another goal of the council.

Any organization that wishes to conduct sport-related activities within the Emirate of Dubai must have the DSC's clearance. Clubs, academies, training facilities, coaches, athletes, and event planners are all included in this, albeit they are not the only ones.

When is DSC Approval Required?

Since the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) oversees sports in the city, permission from the DSC is necessary for a number of sports-related activities. This covers authorization for sports-related activities, programs, and projects as well as any building or remodeling that will occur at sports facilities.

The DSC provides guidance on when approval is needed and what the process entails. In general, approval from the DSC is required for any event or program that:

  • · Is organized by a non-government entity.

  • · Features international athletes or teams.

  • · Has prize money totaling more than AED 100,000.

  • · Will be held at a facility that has not been approved by the DSC previously.

For construction or renovation projects at sports facilities, approval from the DSC is required if the project:

  • · Involves adding or removing any major structural elements.

  • · Will result in a change to the seating capacity of the facility.

  • · Will alter the usage of the facility (e.g., changing a football stadium to a cricket stadium).

  • · Is in a protected area.

Eligibility for DSC Approval:

The Dubai ruling family founded the Dubai Sports Council in 2003 to grow and oversee the emirate's sports industry. The council has been in charge of sanctioning all sports-related events and activities that take place in Dubai since its founding.

An event or activity must fulfill specific standards and eligibility criteria in order to receive approval from the Dubai Sports Council. Above all, every event and activity needs to align with the goals and mission of the council.

These include encouraging citizens to lead healthy lives, helping out local athletes, and luring major international athletic events to the emirate. The laws and regulations of the United Arab Emirates must also be followed by all events and activities. Every participant in an activity or event needs to have insurance coverage for any potential dangers or mishaps.

To be eligible for Dubai Sports Council approval, an applicant must:

  • -Be a UAE national or resident

  • -Be 18 years of age or older

  • -Have a valid Emirates ID

  • -Have a passion for sports

  • -Meet the specific requirements of the sport in question (e.g., fitness levels, experience).

Applicants must also submit a completed application form, which can be obtained from the Dubai Sports Council website. The form must be accompanied by supporting documentation, as outlined on the website.
